For over 7 years, WFA has run private classes, tailored 1-to-1 home and outdoor training sessions where we teach you how to train your dog for life with you and your dog working as a team. We are dog trainers who are people teachers.
WFA offers 6 different courses that are tailored to you and your dog's needs. Payment plans are available for all courses.
Puppy Power
What to prepare your puppy for life? Puppy Power is about empowering you and your puppy with the skills to create a confidence dog.
You'll learn how to master all those puppy problems like a pro and prepare your puppy for life. You'll learn basic cues, how to set your puppy up for success and avoid future fear (which may lead to aggression) later in life. Puppy Power Essentials is a 3 session course held once a week over 3 weeks. Puppy Power Extra is a 6 session course held once a week over 6 weeks.
Throughout these sessions you and your puppy will learn the following and more depending on your needs:
Life skills such as; sit, stay, check-ins, follow you, drop it, leave it and recall
Puppy behaviour and canine communication
Help with puppy biting, jumping and teach calmness
Low Stress husbandry & daily care practices

Mindful manners
Reduce pulling on the leash with loose leash walking

Fear & Frustration Class
Does your dog lunge, bark or growl towards strange people or other dogs? Or are they so fearful, that they'll shy from touch, run away from new people, dogs or cars?
Fear & Frustration Class will teach you how to build a toolkit of solutions to help you and your dog overcome fear, overarousal or frustration (reactivity) . Having a dog with behaviour issues can make simple everyday moments stressful. This behaviour modification course will address your dog's emotional states, the root causes of their behaviours and positively change how your dog feels. We will give you skills to help you and your dog for real life situations, strengthen right behaviours and teach your dog choices. Fear and Frustration Class is 6 lessons held once a week over 6 weeks
Throughout 6 sessions over 6 weeks, you and your dog will learn the following and more depending on the situation:
Dog Behaviour and Thresholds
Identification of triggers and how to handle them
Desensitization and counterconditioning (DS/CC) to change your dog's emotions towards scary things (triggers)
BAT Setups
Ways to create calmness in your home
Gentle methods to help your dog be handled and introduced to new people without fear
Games to build confidence
Leash skills
Decrease fear, overarousal and frustration in everyday situations

Rescue Dogz
Are you going to or did you just adopt a rescue dog? Need help to know what to do to help your dog adjust to their new life with you?
Bringing a rescue dog into your life is one of the most exciting new starts for both you and your dog, but it can take time for your dog to decompress, and when they do behavioural issues may emerge. If you've just rescued a dog or are preparing to bring a rescue dog into your home, this is the course for you! It is specifically created to help the emotional states and behaviours of a rescue dog. Rescue Dogz Starter is a 4 week session held once a week over 4 weeks. Rescue Dogz Guide is a 6 week session held over 6 weeks.
Rescue Dogz courses can include but are not limited to the following:
How to prepare your home for a rescue dog
How to help your rescue dog settle and adjust to their new home

Reduce potential fear, anxiety and stress issues

Tiny Training
Do you and your puppy need puppy lessons? Or do you have an adult dog who is rambunctious and in need of the basics? Foundations training dogs for the real world.
With our Tiny Training Course, you will get foundation training for the real world in a short time-frame. Tiny Training is a 3 session course that is held once a week over 3 weeks.Throughout these 3 sessions over 3 weeks, you and your dog will learn the following and more on:
Life skills and mannners
Loose Leash Walking
Enrichment
Dog Behaviour and Language
Handling
Games

Consults
Do you need support to address concerns about your dog? Sometimes all we need is a helping hand, even for our dogs.
A Consult is a 1 time session for 1 hour. Consults can include but are not limited to the following:
Toilet training advice
Help with a new rescue dog in the home
Ways to calm an overexcited dog
How to create management and training in your home when introducing another dog
How to handle a traumatic episode like a bad veterinary visit or if your dog suddenly went blind

Online Training
Need help but don't live in Calgary? WFA does across Canada wide and international online training!
Get the advice and help you need from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a reliable Wifi service, your phone, your dog, yourself and some tasty treats and you’re good to go! We’ve been doing online services since January 2018, with great results; happy dogs and happy guardians. It’s not any different than our regular sessions, as you still get your tailored lessons and trainer for 1 to 1.5 hours, with same support just virtually! Which for many fearful or anxious dogs, is often a preferred service.

Once you contact us, we will send you 3 forms:
What To Expect Form: a detailed PDF on our background, courses, prices, DO's and DON’Ts list
Cancellation Policy: a PDF that describes our cancellation policies
WFA Dog School Application Form: fill in this form and send it back to us
Once we receive your Application Form, we will then discuss booking which desired course, dates, time, location and tailor your training plan to your dog’s needs. If you are 30 minutes away from us, we will charge you an extra $30, which will be discussed before booking. WE GO TO YOU to do 1-to-1 private training.
Where will we train? At your home, neighbourhood, community, parks and more to help you and your dog learn the skills that you need to set you up for success.
All of our training focuses on deepening your bond and relationship with your dog through positive reinforcement force-free reward-based methods.
