Nationwide Homeless Pet-Friendly Shelters Directory

A large majority of homeless shelters across Canada do not accept pets. Thereby unhoused, vulnerable, or those fleeing domestic violence who have pets are left with limited options. Such as living on the streets, in encampments, in their vehicles, or to stay trapped in their unsafe or dangerous housing situation.

WFA organized a directory for nationwide homeless shelters that accept pets so that people with pets have the resources to know where to go during their time of need.

Our directory is organized as follows:

  • All of Canada’s provinces and territories in alphabetical order

  • The cities in these provinces and territories that have homeless pet-friendly shelters

  • The organizations providing homeless pet-friendly programs in these cities

If you’re unhoused, at risk of being homeless or are in a vulnerable situation, check out our free resources for checklists and information that will help guide you at this challenging time.
